Deep State Psyop Sparks Anti-Israel Hate to Fracture MAGA Base

With the recent escalation in the U.S.-Israel joint military operations against Iran, beginning with the targeted airstrikes on February 28, 2026, that eliminated Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and key regime infrastructure, it has become evident that the dramatic increase in anti-Israel rhetoric on social media platforms was not a grassroots phenomenon. This surge, which intensified throughout 2025, aligned suspiciously with broader geopolitical tensions, suggesting coordinated efforts to manipulate public opinion. The so-called Deep State elements within media and intelligence apparatuses amplified anti-Israel narratives, anticipating that President Trump’s administration would partner with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to dismantle Iran’s regime and its affiliated terror networks across the Middle East. As the conflict has progressed—with U.S. forces engaging in sustained operations and Trump projecting a resolution within weeks—this premeditated propaganda appears designed to sow discord among his base ahead of the 2026 midterms.

The fixation on Israel and related themes was executed as a sophisticated psychological operation, precision-targeted at Trump’s supporters through social media algorithms and influencer networks. By fostering animosity toward Israel in advance, operatives aimed to erode loyalty to Trump when the inevitable confrontation with Iran materialized, framing the alliance as a betrayal of “America First” principles. Influencers such as Nick Fuentes, Candace Owens, Ian Carroll, Dave Smith, Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, and Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG), among others critical of Israel, inadvertently or deliberately disseminated narratives that echoed Iranian and adversarial talking points. Their platforms, amplified by bot farms and foreign actors, positioned them and their audiences as unwitting participants in a campaign to fracture the MAGA movement from within.

This was no coincidence but a deliberate disinformation strategy, leveraging existing divides in conservative circles over foreign policy and endless wars. While projects like Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 and Project Esther have focused on countering anti-Israel activism by labeling it as terrorist sympathy, the opposing psyop sought to exploit these tensions to undermine Trump’s agenda. As evidence of foreign influence operations from entities like Russia, China, and Iran surfaces in online narratives, the operation’s success in polarizing discourse highlights the vulnerability of social media to manipulation, though concrete ties to a unified “Deep State” plot remain unsubstantiated beyond circumstantial patterns.
