Aides reportedly kept meetings short and controlled access to Biden, ensuring interactions were focused. Top advisers often stepped into roles traditionally held by the president, acting as intermediaries.  Public events and speeches were highly scripted, with an emphasis on maintaining Biden's image and minimizing the risk of gaffes or missteps due to his age or perceived cognitive decline.
 

Staff reportedly filtered the information reaching Biden, excluding negative news stories about his performance or the administration to shield him from adverse public opinion. Meetings were scheduled later in the day to accommodate Biden's energy levels, especially after observations that he performed less effectively during certain times of the day. There was a noted increase in gatekeeping, where access to the president was more restricted than in previous administrations. Despite these operational adjustments, the administration, through spokespeople like Andrew Bates, denied that Biden's capabilities had diminished, arguing he was actively engaged with his cabinet and policy details.
