The distinction between those who model the system and those who model the room is older than any modern franchise, and it has always sorted roughly by temperament. Men of high drive and cognitive capacity tend to ask what an arrangement does to the whole; they test claims against outcomes, against history, and against the constraints of nature. Most others, women included, ask what an arrangement does to their standing with the people who matter. The difference is not moral superiority. It is a difference in the feedback loop that governs speech and belief. When the second group reaches decisive mass, the content of opinion becomes secondary to the appearance of consensus. Votes then register not judgment but the ambient pressure of approval, and the polity ceases to deliberate.

The instruments that produced this mass were not accidents of humanitarian progress. Extension of the franchise, the deliberate importation of populations whose political habits were formed elsewhere, and the long monopoly of public schooling each expanded the share of the electorate whose primary political skill is the reading of social cues. Managerial rule thrives under precisely these conditions. It requires a citizenry that treats official doctrine as the price of membership rather than as a proposition open to falsification. High-testosterone, high-IQ men of European stock have been the most reliable generators of technical and institutional advance and, for the same reason, the least tractable subjects of that rule. Their displacement is therefore not a side effect of equity; it is a condition of the regime’s continued operation.

Persuasion aimed at those whose beliefs are downstream of status is therefore a category error. Their “beliefs” will reverse when the status hierarchy itself reverses, not before. Political recovery, if it is to occur, will consist in the reassertion of authority by those capable of governing according to an actual model of the society rather than a model of the seminar. That reassertion is a matter of institutional capture and demographic leverage, not of converting the median voter through argument. The men who built the civilizational surplus are the only ones positioned to restore the conditions under which surplus can again be produced. Everything else is commentary on a process already decided by numbers and by the character of those who hold the numbers.
