Donald Trump recently unleashed a blistering criticism of Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, both of whom he personally nominated to the bench, accusing them of failing to remain “true” to him by not reliably ruling in his favor. In a lengthy Truth Social post following the court’s February 2026 decision striking down his sweeping tariffs, Trump expressed deep disappointment, noting that the justices had hurt the country badly and suggesting it was acceptable for them to show loyalty to the president who elevated them to “almost the highest position in the land.” He contrasted their votes with those of Democratic-appointed justices, whom he claimed always stick together out of ideological fidelity, while lamenting that Gorsuch and Barrett seemed more interested in demonstrating independence than supporting his agenda on key issues like tariffs.

But Democrat James Carville scorched the Supreme Court as illegitimate and lacking a ‘Code of Ethics,’ thundering, ‘The Country Is Sick of Your Bullshit!’ Carville’s fiery rant, delivered amid growing calls for court reform, echoed widespread frustration across the political spectrum with a judiciary perceived as unaccountable and out of touch. His comments highlighted the absence of enforceable ethical standards and the court’s repeated overreach, framing it as an institution that has lost public trust and legitimacy in the eyes of ordinary Americans tired of its unchecked influence.

All of this shows that the SCOTUS is too powerful and has no accountability for the damage they do to our country through decisions untethered to logic and reason. The SCOTUS allowed unconstitutional racially gerrymandered districts to exist for over 50 years and yet, just this year, the majority of justices decided that a president doesn’t have the legal authority to tariff which all presidents have been doing for over 200 years. Now the court is set to rule on birthright citizenship and there is no clue on what they will decide.
