No Kings Hypocrites Pivot to May Day Communist Uprising

In a glaring display of ideological flip-flopping, the same activists who flooded the streets waving “No Kings” signs just weeks ago—denouncing any hint of centralized power or traditional authority as fascist tyranny—are now gearing up for a full-throated May Day Communist uprising. These professional protesters, who once claimed to champion democracy and individual rights against perceived strongmen, have seamlessly pivoted to endorsing symbols of collectivist revolution that have historically produced the very dictatorships they pretend to oppose. Their selective memory conveniently erases how communist regimes from Moscow to Beijing crowned themselves with absolute kings in all but name, revealing a hypocrisy rooted not in principle but in tribal allegiance to the radical left.

May 1 has been reserved as a day of protest for well over a century in the United States, originating in the 19th-century push for a socialist workers’ paradise that promised to liberate the proletariat through strikes, marches, and demands for total economic redistribution. What began as agitation for the eight-hour workday quickly morphed into a broader ideological crusade against private property and free enterprise, imported from European Marxist circles and celebrated globally as International Workers’ Day. In America, this tradition became a ritual for those who viewed capitalism not as an engine of prosperity but as an enemy to be overthrown, turning city squares into stages for revolutionary theater year after year.

That long-simmering dream appeared to reach its zenith with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s election and the entrenchment of New Deal policies that wove socialist-style government intervention into the national fabric. Yet the recent MAGA-driven dismantling of those very programs—slashing bureaucratic bloat, restoring market incentives, and rejecting the cradle-to-grave state—has left the New Deal’s most devoted disciples politically homeless. With their vision of a permanent welfare utopia unraveling at the ballot box, these hardcore holdouts have only one reliable outlet left: the streets. On this May Day, their frustration boils over into the familiar chants and clenched fists, a final, furious attempt to recapture through protest what they can no longer win through persuasion.
