By granting Iran a pathway to industrial-scale enrichment under the polite fiction of “peaceful” nuclear work, the JCPOA converted a strategic threat into a scheduled inevitability. The regime’s subsequent conduct—stockpiling highly enriched uranium, obstructing inspectors, and accelerating its ballistic programs—proved that the deal was never a barrier but a timetable. When a government’s founding ideology and daily practice both demand the destruction of its principal adversaries, verbal renunciations of nuclear weapons are theater, not policy.
